Rehearsal Session

A keynote on paper and a keynote on a stage are not the same thing.

The Rehearsal Session is meant for speakers who have written their keynote and want to rehearse it live with ianka.

Beforehand, you send ianka a transcript or the full text of your keynote. Not a PowerPoint in place of the text. ianka reads the keynote in advance, so the session doesn’t start with reconstructing what you want to say.

For 90 minutes, you work live on the delivery together.

Who it’s for

When should you book a Rehearsal Session?

Book a Rehearsal Session when your keynote is written and you want to work on how you deliver it. For example, when:

• you want to deliver your keynote out loud in full for the first time, to someone with an experienced outside eye;
• you notice that certain passages work well on paper but sound less natural when spoken;
• you want to work on timing, pace, and rhythm;
• you want to know where to leave more space and where to tighten up;
• you want to connect more strongly with your audience;
• you want to practice presence and stagecraft;
• you want to check where your story stays clear as you deliver it and where your audience might drop off;
• you have an important speaking moment coming up and want to rehearse the keynote with focus beforehand.

Your keynote is written

A Rehearsal Session doesn’t start with developing your keynote.

You have a full text or transcript of what you want to deliver, and you send it to ianka before the session.

The text doesn’t have to be a polished literary manuscript. But it does need to be complete enough to understand what your story is, how it’s built, and what you want to say on stage.

Preparation

What does ianka do in advance?

ianka reads the keynote you’ve sent and prepares for the coaching session.

That preparation is there so the live session can go straight to work on your delivery.

A Rehearsal Session does not include a full rewrite of your keynote, and it isn’t an in-depth analysis of the content like a Deep Dive.

The session

What do we do in the session?

You deliver your keynote — or the parts we want to focus on — as if you’re facing an audience.

ianka watches and listens to the delivery and coaches you on, among other things:

• delivery;
• timing and pace;
• rhythm and silences;
• presence;
• connection with the audience;
• staying clear while you speak;
• transitions;
• passages that work differently spoken than on paper.

Where needed, we stop, try again, and compare different ways of delivering a passage.

The focus is on delivering an existing keynote.

When should you not book a Rehearsal Session?

Don’t book this session if:

• your keynote isn’t written yet;
• you only have a PowerPoint and the story itself still has to take shape;
• you mainly need a thorough analysis of the keynote’s content;
• you expect ianka to rewrite the keynote beforehand;
• you want to develop a completely new story or keynote.

If preparation shows that the keynote still needs fundamental work on its content, it’s important to do that first.
